* The 25th Anniversary Book by Gene Roddenberry has been indefinately
postponed. It is believed that there were arguments over the use of some of
the photos. It is now uncertain whether the book will ever be released.
* Season 5 of THE NEXT GENERATION will feature a two-part story with Leonard
Nimoy appearing as Federation Ambassador Spock!! There is no news on the
actual storyline, but it is unlikely that it is the "Return To Forever"
script that sees TWO Spocks! The episodes were filmed during the last few
weeks of September, for transmission at the end of November. Supposedly,
Leonard agreed to return as it would act as good publicity for STAR TREK
VI which will open just two weeks later. He is believed to be receiving a
salary of over £1 million for the story!
* Still with the Spock story, there are rumours going around that as well as
starring in it, Leonard Nimoy will also be Directing and possibly Co-
Writing the story!! We can only wait and see.
* It is believed that Season 5 will see again the return of several
characters to the show. Apart from the obligatory Q and Lwaxana Troi
episodes (a script for a Troi story is being written at the moment with
DIALOGUE for Mr Homn!!) it is RUMOURED that we will see the return of
Sarek, Nichelle Nichols as Gunian's Daughter (!), Vash, and there will be
a couple of episodes with the return of Wil Wheaton and possibly one or two
with Diana Muldaur returning as Dr Pulaski.
* Still with Season 5, there will possibly be a regular replacement for
Wesley and we will be seeing more of Miles Edward O'Brien as he receives a
promotion.
* It also rumoured that one of the early episodes in Season Five is entitled
"Tasha"! I wonder what that's about!!
* The new Amiga graphics add-on by American firm NewTek, The Video Toaster,
will be used in the creation of some of the graphics in STAR TREK VI!!!
* If you've read the PD Reviews or the Video Reviews, you will have heard
about Tobias Richter's forthcoming TNG video. Well, unfortunately, Tobias
has now cancelled the project as he is just too busy to finish it. He had
written the script for the film and over a minute of footage was completed,
but he simply hasn't got the time with working on graphics for games and
his work as a freelance writer on a new German PD magazine. However, he
hasn't ruled out the film completely, but if he decides to finish it we
won't be seeing it for quite a while.
* Those of you who live in or near Reading in ENGLAND can look forward to a
treat at the end of October. At Reading Town Hall on October 26th 1991,
there is a special showing of all five TREK films! The first film starts at
10:30 am and it costs £7 for the full day (until about 11:30 pm), £4.50 for
films 1 - 3 or £4.50 for films 4 and 5.
* Bad news for all British TNG fans. As far as I know, the BBC are planning
to show ALL the original series after season three has finished, so you
will have to wait 18 months between Parts 1 and 2 of The Best Of Both
Worlds!
* Also, the BBC are only buying TNG episodes in batches of episodes and NOT
in whole seasons and at the moment, they don't have all of season three or
ANY of season four.
At least CIC video will continue to release seasons three and four
throughout 1992.
